Dean Jacquin Caught our U10’s in Cup Action this Morning!

I popped along to Jockey Farm to watch Scott Deans under 10s this morning. And an entertaining hour of football followed.
The Young Rustics seemed to still be in bed as Unity Green raced into a 2-0 lead within the first 2 minutes. Unity Green had some big lads playing for them, but were also playing the ball around nicely. This shocked Rusthall into life and they started to play their own neat football. It wasn’t long before they reduced the lead to 2-1, but Unity Green responded to go 3-1 up again. With half time approaching the Oppo made it 4-1, Rusthall once again replied,4-2. Rusthall could take some hope that this match wasn’t over from the fact they were still creating good chances. They just needed to convert them. 4-2 half time.
The second half started with Rusthall in the ascendancy and they soon reduced the lead to 4-3. However once again Unity Green restored their two goal advantage. 5-3. It was now that the Rustics threw everything at it, and Unity Green were struggling to mount their own attacks. 5-4 soon followed and with 5 mins to go the comeback was complete 5-5. Penalties seemed to be on the cards in this Gold Cup match, but with 30 seconds remaining Unity Green conceded a penalty after a handball. Ashton had the task of winning it for Rusthall. Nerves, what Nerves, he dispatched it low to the keepers left. The final whistle followed and an entertaining cup game was over. Great comeback by the Rustics, and you never know, it may be their year for the cup?
Rusthalls Leighton was MOTM for me. He put a really solid defensive performance in against a Strong Unity Green attack.

Well done boys!
