Rusthall will put league duty to one side on Saturday when they entertain AFC Walcountians in the Second Qualifying Round of the ISUZU FA Vase at The Jockey Farm Stadium. Progress has been limited in recent years in a competition which was won by a SCEFL team, Whitstable Town, two seasons ago, and Jimmy Anderson will no doubt be hoping for a good run. Defeats at home to Newhaven, Montpelier Villa and Soul Tower Hamlets are among the results in recent years the Rustics will be looking to forget as they prepare to take on Step 6 opposition.

AFC Walcountians are an unfamiliar opponent for Rusthall- they play in the Southern Combination Football League Division 1 where they currently sit top of the table and unbeaten after six games. They can be found at the Walcountians Sports Club south of Croydon and have had a men's senior team since 2015. Last season was their first at Step 6 and will go into the game in good form.

Rusthall will be buoyed by their performance at home last week in which they easily overcame Kennington with a positive display. Goals from Jack Kirby and Lekan Osideko were enough to secure three points but it's a place in the next round up for grabs in this one. Ben Sangare played the last few minutes of the previous game and Saturday's match may be a good time for him to return properly after his injury suffered against Crowborough in preseason. Dan Atta, Thompson Adeyemi, Louie Clarke and Rajan Sahni entered the fray to good effect against Kennington and will no doubt be pushing to start so Jimmy Anderson will have some decisions to make- with nearly 300 games in charge of Rusthall, there's no one better to make those crucial calls.

With youth football back in action throughout the morning, the bar fully stocked, the weather set fair, and a good crowd expected, Jockey Farm really is the place to be on Saturday.
