This Saturday sees the Rustics make the long trip to Kennington Football Club
Based in Kingsnorth, Ashford, Kennington have been around since the 1880s. Playing their football out of Ashford United's Homelands ground. Kennington are enjoying a mixed start to their season having played 13 games, winning 6 drawing 2 and losing 5 they sit in 9th position once place above "them up the road".
Home form has been key for Kennington this season in the league, they have played 5 and won all 5 of those games, conceding 3 whilst scoring 16 along the way. This is something Rusthall will need to be mindful of. Their wins have come over Chislehurst Glebe, Tunbridge Wells, Holmesdale, Corinthian and Hollands & Blair. 4 of those teams are in the bottom half of the table.
Rusthall, on the other hand, are still unbeaten in the league. We have only travelled away 3 times this season, with 1 win and 2 draws in those games. Our win came against Erith & Belvedere, the draws came against Larkfield and Punjab. 3 very strong teams.
Stats wise, despite the goal scoring form dropping off in the last 3 games, Rusthall are still the league's top goalscorers with 31 goals in 11 games (the least amount of games played in the league).
The Danger man for Kennington is clear, Ryan Philpott will need to be stopped at all costs, he's their top goalscorer this season on 11 goals, of which 8 have come in league competition.
Come and join us on the road and get behind the boys. If you have a space in your car please feel free to offer it out to a fellow supporter.
