So here it is, the most hotly-anticipated league game of the season- Whitstable away. This one matters, the players know exactly what is at stake and will be hoping to repeat that away victory from last season- a game in which we saw a rare goal from fan favourite, Dan Blunn.
After last weekend's result, the players will be fired up to make amends and to get ourselves firmly back in the title race. It's a non-negotiable- we have to win this game to contend.
The Oystermen come into this game after an excruciating exit in the FA Vase and they will be ready to bounce back. In the league, they have been impressive- they currently sit top of the league with a healthy 11 point lead over Larkfield & New Hythe having played one game fewer. They are currently 17 points clear of us having played three games more.
This is how the top of the table currently looks: -
| P | W | D | L | F | A | +/- | Pts | ||
| 1 | Whitstable Town | 23 | 18 | 3 | 2 | 55 | 26 | 29 | 57 |
| 2 | Larkfield & New Hythe | 24 | 13 | 7 | 4 | 52 | 22 | 30 | 46 |
| 3 | Rusthall | 20 | 12 | 4 | 4 | 50 | 28 | 22 | 40 |
Rusthall will need to be wary of the threat from Whitstable's top scorers, Javaun Splatt and Bradley Schafer who have a combined total of 36 goals in all comps this season. Javaun leads with 20 . We do carry a huge threat of our own in league top goalscorer Louie Clarke.
This promises to be a mouth-watering tie and will go a long way to decide the fate of the league title. Can the Rustics do it? There is only one way to find out! BE THERE!
