After exiting the FA cup the week previous it was important to get our league campaign going with a win.
Lydd actually started quite brightly and had a couple of good moments early on, however once Bradley Large cut inside from the left and fired home with his right in the 12th minute to make it 1-0, the flood gates truly opened. Minutes later Luke Adams made it 2-0 with a delightful long range lob over the Lydd goalie and defender. Louis Clarke then fired in off the underside of the bar from outside the box. 3-0 and with only 25mins gone Reuel Powell-Downey made it 4-0, sliding the ball past the keeper.
Lydd huffed and puffed in the second half but Rusthall’s back line were rarely troubled.
The Rustics continued to create opportunities throughout the 2nd half and Stephen Camacho was next to net. He cut inside and also fired in off the underside of the bar. Powell-Downey rounded the scoring off, after good work from debutant Ben Boodle. Final score 6-0.
The lads are back in action against SC Thamesmead on Bank Holiday Monday. 3pm kick off at The Jockey Farm Stadium!
